Once a Roman city, once the chief city of a world empire, London has celebrated and endured invasion, fire, regeneration, plague and war. Its triumphs have shaped the world, its innovations have changed nations. London is a world city whose stature, history and society are legendary. And it would be impossible to understand this history, these innovations and this society without reference to its Christian heritage.
Christian Heritage London exists to draw attention to the advances of Christianity made in this city and to commend the claims of the Christian gospel.
Based in the heart of the city at St Botolph-without-Aldersgate, we are within half a mile of locations key to true giants of church history. Among others, in 1738 John Wesley’s life was changed either near or on the site of the building, and in the 1930s Dietrich Bonhoeffer led a congregation in a church building across the road.
We are delighted to introduce visitors to the stories of people like them: people who, having been blessed by the gospel, blessed London. We do this through:
Hebrews 13, 7-8 “Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
“Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergymen or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth.”
